aeration and overseeding benefits

Aeration and overseeding benefits.

This process is especially beneficial for lawns suffering from high usage, overgrown thatch beneath the grass, or not to mention a lack of proper nutrients in the soil.

High Usage – Does your lawn serve as the main area for weekend barbeques and family gatherings? After all, your lawn soil can suffer from soil compaction, which prevents water and nutrients from reaching the soil under your lawn.

Tip: If you recently had any construction finished on your house, you may want to aerate your lawn this season. Furthermore, large construction equipment tends to exacerbate any soil compaction problems.

Thatch Overgrowth – Thatch is the mix of organic matter, such as roots, sticks, and leaves, underneath your grass. If your grass is unable to break down this layer faster than it accumulates, then you can get a sponge-like feel to your grass.

This build-up of thatch suffocates your soil by not allowing the proper amount of water and circulation to get into the ground. Aerating your lawn helps by providing holes for water and air to circulate throughout the soil.

What Is Aeration?

Aeration is the process of poking holes into your grass to allow water and air to better circulate down to the roots of your grass and down into the soil. We recommend this service in the Fall and Spring seasons when it isn’t too hot or too cold for your lawn.
